Staged in 2014, A Night of Amiri Baraka was conceived and produced by Chrysalis Staging of which I am artistic director.  The combination of poet, play, and community leader combined on stage seemed a fitting concept to tackle Baraka’s complicated legacy.

Lamont Dixon provided the evocative original poetry

The Dutchman was directed by the amazing Connie Norwood.

Turiya S.A. Raheem reflected on Baraka’s historical significance. To read her insightful personal essay click here.
