The Pillowman straddles the line between darkness and light, creativity and responsibility, innocence and guilt. In an unnamed totalitarian future, the writer Katurian is interrogated about the gruesome content of her short stories. These stories are revealed to be part of a larger world, a world that is a perverted mirror of our own institutions designed to comfort and protect us. The play asks the questions, ‘who is responsible and where does that responsibility end? Can we make the world we live in become a slightly brighter place or must we always descend further into despair? What does it take to find hope?’”

Galloway Township, NJ- The Pillowman, a play written by Irish playwright Martin McDonagh, will be performed at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey February 9-12, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. and February 13, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in Stockton’s Experimental Theatre.
